저는 한국에 있는 소위 형제교회를 다니다가 탈퇴한 후 혼자 있는 사람입니다. 현재 한국에 널리 퍼져있는 형제교회는 딕욕선교사님에 의해 많은 영향을 받은 것으로 알고 있습니다. 그래서 궁금한데 선교사님은 소위 형제운동을 통해 파생된 Brethren church의 회원 이십니까? 선교사님의 소속이 궁금합니다. 만약 Brethren이시라면 Exclusive Brethren이신지도 궁금합니다.

I am getting along by myself now after I left so-called Brethren Church in Korea. As I know, Brethren Church in Korea is influenced a lot by missionary Dick York. I have a question here if you are a member of Brethren Church which was derived from Brethren Movement. I want to know which group you are in now. If you are a Brethren Church member, I want to know whether it is exclusive Brethren or not.

저는 제가 한국에 있는 형제모임에 큰 영향을 미쳤는지 전혀 아는 바가 없습니다.
제가 한국에 있었을 때, 형제모임의 있던 선교사들과 좋은 교제를 가졌으나, 제 자신은 형제모임의 회원이 아닙니다.
배타적 형제모임(Exclusive Brethren)과 열린 형제모임(Open Brethren)이 있다는 것을 압니다만 제에게 더 익숙한 것은 열린 형제모임입니다.
왜냐하면 이들은 외부인이 자신들의 모임에 와서 말씀을 나누거나 교제하는 것을 허락하기 때문이며, 저는 이를 높게 평가하고 있습니다.
질문에서 혼자 계시다고 말씀하셨습니다.
그런데 그것이 저에게는 그리 좋게 들리지는 않습니다.
왜냐하면 성경은 “서로 돌아보아 사랑과 선행을 격려하며 모이기를 폐하는 어던 사람들의 습관과 같이 하지 말고 오직 권하여 그날이 가까움을 볼수록 더욱 그리하자(히 10:14, 15)”라고 말하기 때문입니다.
자존심이 (당신의 것이나 그들의 것이나) 성도들의 모임에서 자신을 분리시키도록 하지 마십시오.
주 예수님을 사랑하는 믿는 자들을 찾으셔야 합니다.
(그들이 형제모임이든지 아니든지요; 다른 성경적인 모임들도 있습니다.)

I am not aware that I have had any great influence on the Brethren church in Korea. I myself am not a member of a Brethren Assembly, although when I was in Korea I had good fellowship with missionaries who were with the Brethren. I know that there are exclusive Brethren and there are Open Brethren, the one I am most familiar with is the Open because they allow outsiders to share the word and fellowship in their meetings and I appreciate that.
You say you are getting along by yourself. That does not sound good to me inasmuch as the scriptures say, “Let us consider one another to provoke unto love and good works: not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” (Heb. 10:24,25). Do not let pride (yours or theirs) keep you from meeting with the saints. You need to find believers who love the Lord Jesus (whether or not it is a brethren assembly; there are other biblical assemblies) and begin to fellowship around the Lord in the word and the work. These are dangerous days, and body parts do not fare well when they are separated from the body. Please keep in touch. In Christ, Dick.
